As expected, it ran every day… and sometimes even worse (really, really worse!). As expected, we breathed sulfur by liters and swallowed solfatars' smoke by tons. As excepted, we got lost on desert roads, driving for miles and miles in the middle of nowhere. And, as expected, we couldn't do everything we had planed to do, or would have loved to do… But, how could it have been a more wonderful week, that the one we spent?

01/11/2012 | Grenoble - Paris - Levallois-Perret

  • First of all, we had to reach Paris.
  • We slept at Fred & Imane's…
  • … A perfect opportunity for them to show us ALL the pictures of their honeymoon in Seychelles…

02/11/2012 | Levallois-Perret - Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport - Keflavík Airport - Reykjavík

  • Fresh baguette and Speculoos creme for breakfast.
  • Then, Imane & Fred took us to the airport…
  • CDG, c'est toujours le gros bordel.
  • Check-in started 30 minutes late…
  • … But we took-off on time.
  • Nothing to say during the flight…
  • … But a lot about landing !!!
  • The wind was very strong.
  • The plane was going up and down, as if it was about to crash…
  • … But (hopefully) didn't !
  • Nobody aplause the pilot, despite it's the first time I thought it would have been earned.
  • It was dark and rainy…
  • Velkomin til Íslands !

03/11/2012 | Reykjavík

  • To begin with, a good sleep!
  • Then, we had breakfast.
  • The weather was not really fine..
  • We went to pick-up concert tickets…
  • … Under a light drizzle.
  • By the shore, the wind was really strong.
  • Then, the sun finally went out.
  • Great light for pictures!

04/11/2012 | Reykjavík

  • The sun was shinning…
  • … What, in itself, wasn't really surprising : it was excepted to be a beautiful day!
  • We walked in the streets and made lost of pictures.
  • Then, went to the Viking Museum.
  • Then, have a rest…
  • … Until time has come ti get ready for Sigur Rós' concert.
  • We walked to Laugardalshöllin.
  • Lot of people were waiting… with an impressive self-disciplin!.
  • The concert started one hour late.
  • We still wonder why.
  • Nevermind…
  • From the start, we were astonished by the sounds and lights.
  • So, we could only let them make us travel.
  • It could have last the whole night…
  • Unfortunately, it didn't.

05/11/2012 | Reykjavík - Nesjavellir - Þingvellir - Geysir - Gullfoss - Skálholt - Kerið - Selfoss

  • The show must go on…
  • Time to leave Reykjavik, and meet authentic Iceland.
  • On the road, man!
  • It was raining… a lot and even more!.
  • … Typical icelandic weather…
  • Geysir and Gullfoss… under the rain again.
  • Then, we went to Selfoss…
  • … And its first class youth hostel!
  • Charlotte looked at me with angry eyes….
  • “What the hell is that room?”
  • Well… You let me plan the trip… So, I've planned like I always plan my trips…
  • … And it was really (really) cheap!

06/11/2012 | Selfoss - Seljalandsfoss - Skógafoss - Vík

  • … Wait 5 minutes!
  • We initially were supposed to go to Stöng, an ancient Viking farm.
  • But the road was really too snowy to our small car.
  • So we decided to go back…
  • … And go directly to Seljalandsfoss.
  • Then Skógafoss.
  • And, finally, we took the road to Vík…
  • … My God…
  • A snow storm on the road!
  • One of the scariest drive of my life.
  • We finally reached the Youth Hostel (eh eh: again!)
  • Wel, you asked me to plan the trip…

07/11/2012 | Vík - Dyrhólaey - Hellisheiði - Reykjavík

  • We were supposed to go to Jökulsárlón, but the bad weather conditions made us change our plans.
  • A brief moment on the black sand beach…
  • Waves were so strong!
  • Great light for pictures.
  • Some miles away, Dyrhólaey…
  • … Where the world ends.
  • On our way back to Reykjavik, we stopped at Hellisheiði geothermal power plant.
  • As we were alone in the museum, one of the guides offered us a private visit.

08/11/2012 | Reykjavík - Seltún - Krýsuvík - Blue Lagoon - Keflavík

  • Last day.
  • Destination, Reykjanes.
  • Light drizzle in Reykjavik…
  • … Huge storm at lake Kleifarvatn!
  • We managed to take some pictures.
  • Then, took the road of Krýsuvík, and its lovely (and lonely) church…
  • … That do not existes anymore!
  • Hopefully, the Blue Lagoon is still standing at its place.
  • 38°c in the water.
  • 7 outside… Plus (well, minus) the wind!

09/11/2012 | Keflavík - Keflavík Airport - Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport - Paris - Grenoble

  • It's over…
  • Nothing special to say about the flight.
  • Nothing special to say about the train.
  • Grenoble.
  • Home sweet home…
